IPL 2024: [WATCH] Gujarat Titans Players And Coaches Bid Mentor Gary Kirsten Goodbye In Heartfelt Video

The Gujarat Titans players and coaches bid mentor Gary Kirsten after their final match against Sunrisers Hyderabad which was washed out without a ball being bowled.

Kirsten was appointed the coach for Gujarat Titans during the last three years. Under his coaching, GT won the IPL title on its first attempt in 2022. GT players and coach Ashish Nehra posted short videos saying final words before Gary Kirsten’s departure to England to coach the Pakistan team for the 4-match T20I series starting from 22^nd May 2024.

He has been appointed as the Pakistan coach for white ball format including ODIs and T20I format. Pakistan struggled since the departure of the regular coach since the World Cup 2023 played in India.

Gary Kirsten would look to bring back aggressive intent when Pakistan takes part in the T20 World Cup 2024 to be played in West Indies and USA starting from 2^nd June 2024. Under his coaching, India won the 2011 World Cup after a gap of 28 years and would be looking to do the same.

Speaking on his appointment, Gary Kirsten said: “It’s a tremendous honor to be entrusted with the responsibility of coaching the Pakistan men’s national team in white-ball cricket and to rejoin the international cricket arena after some time. I eagerly anticipate this opportunity and aim to contribute positively to the Pakistan men’s national team in limited-overs cricket.

Kirsten’s strategy focuses on prioritizing continuity in team selections, aiming to create a stable and consistent environment that allows players to perform at their best. He believes that maintaining a cohesive unit and building strong team dynamics are essential for the team’s success in international competitions.”

Gujarat Titans Performance in IPL 2024

Gujarat Titans had a disappointing outing in IPL 2024. Shubman Gill was appointed as the captain this season after Hardik Pandya was traded to Mumbai Indians. They missed the services of Mohammed Shami who was ruled out of the season due to an injury.

Gujarat Titans failed to live up to the expectations finishing 8^th in the points table with 5 wins, 7 losses, and 2 no-results. GT defeated Punjab Kings, Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Rajasthan Royals. GT washout matches were against Kolkata Knight Riders and SRH.

Their performances were not up to the mark as they looked out of sorts with their bowling and batting also.
