Punjab Kings skipper Shikhar Dhawan rues dropped catches in the 2024 Indian Premier League match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore on Monday, March 25 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. They lost the match by four wickets, suffering their first loss of the tournament.
Virat Kohli played a brilliant knock for the Royal Challengers Bangalore chasing 177 runs. He slammed 77 runs off 49 deliveries, with eleven boundaries and two sixes. His knock set the match for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. However, the veteran batter could have well been dismissed for a duck as he was dropped by Jonny Bairstow.
He again got a lifeline on 33, when Rahul Chahar dropped a difficult chance. Talking about the match, Punjab Kings skipper Shikhar Dhawan expressed that they paid the price for giving Virat Kohli two lifelines.
“Good game, we brought it back. I think we were 10-15 runs less. Should have encashed in the first six overs. We had to pay the price for dropping Kohli. We lost momentum there, it was crucial. Match went till last over, in the end, we could have bowled better,” he added.

Punjab Kings skipper Shikhar Dhawan played a decent knock at the top against Royal Challengers Bangalore. He scored 45 runs from 37 deliveries, at a strike rate of 121.62. He slammed five boundaries and a six. Dhawan expressed that he is happy with his performance, however, he acknowledges that he could have played at a better strike rate. He said,
“I was happy with my runs but think could’ve played faster in the first six. We lost two wickets which put pressure too. That total we thought was par.”
Shikhar Dhawan was all praise for Harpreet Brar to was the pick of the bowlers for the Punjab Kings against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Brar took two crucial wickets, dismissing Rajat Patidar and Glenn Maxwell. He was also very economical conceding runs at just 3.2 economy rate.
“Harpreet (Brar) is bowling really well, that too to left-handers on a small ground. He soaked in pressure and got breakthroughs,” said Shikhar Dhawan.
