Ravichandran Ashwin has now got his path home as he has been picked by his former side, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for ₹9.75 crore in the IPL 2025 auction, which happened in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This brings a remarkable comeback for Ashwin as the cricketer interacts with the symbol of the Indian Premier League yellow jersey along with Dhoni and Jadeja.
The Rajasthan Royals, who had been Ashwin’s team the last time, had focused more on their youth strength, which includes Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag, and Dhruv Jurel. Therefore, options of Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal were released by the Royals.
It had been rumored for some time that Ashwin could be returning to Chennai with CSK, who said to be open to the idea. The fans were eagerly looking forward to the three stars—Dhoni, Jadeja, and Ashwin—playing for CSK. Ashwin himself had contributed to it earlier by staging an online auction on his YouTube channel where he was bidding for himself in an auction to sell him to CSK.
Since the management has now finalized Ashwin for CSK, the fans should expect to see him perform alongside MSD and Jadeja. Many fans believe that this reunion will bring a new level of entertainment to the team, and undoubtedly, Ashwin’s experience and skills will be beneficial for CSK in the next season.
Ravichandran Ashwin’s tenure in CSK
He was instrumental in CSK’s consecutive IPL wins in 2010 and 2011; the 38-year-old made his IPL debut in 2009. After leaving CSK, he played for the charismatic, rising Pune Super Giants in 2016 and 2017. He also represents Delhi capitals in 2020-2021 and Punjab kings in 2018-2019. Ashwin, who has been playing major of his cricket under the leadership of MS Dhoni, will be again with him when he comes to Chennai.
