Gujarat Titans (GT) secured England wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler for a massive Rs 15.75 Crore at the IPL 2025 auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Rajasthan Royals (RR) initially entered the bidding, hoping to acquire Buttler at a lower price, but Gujarat Titans stayed in the race to sign the England white-ball captain.
After a final push from Lucknow Super Giants, Gujarat Titans emerged victorious, defeating the competition to land Buttler. He was highly sought after by several franchises due to his leadership skills and explosive batting ability.
Since his debut in 2011, Buttler has been one of the top performers in the short format, amassing 3,389 runs in 129 games. He also has a T20I best score of 101* and has captained England with distinction in white-ball cricket.
Buttler is one of 38 England-qualified players in the auction pool, alongside notable names like Harry Brook, Phil Salt, Jofra Archer, Jacob Bethell, Moeen Ali, Adil Rashid, and Liam Livingstone.

However, it came as a surprise when the Royals chose not to retain him ahead of the mega auction.
