In a very important decision, the Lucknow Super Giants make their first bold move by brining Indian all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed into the family for the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction. Born in Bengal, Shahbaz set a base price of ₹1 crore but managed to attract an offer worth ₹2.40 crore from LSG.
IPL experience, according to Shahbaz, would be quite useful for LSG. He played for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the beginning of 2023 and was later traded to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) last year. Since he is able to contribute both batting and bowling, we think LSG has an important place for him during the campaign.
Shahbaz joining LSG was also designed to add quality in the all-round department for bolstering the squad. He made his IPL debut in 2020 while playing for the Royal Challengers as an all-rounder in India. The all-rounder’s prowess earned a name for Shahbaz in IPL. Shahbaz performed well in the season earlier this year, making 215 runs with a strike rate of about 130. He also took seven wickets.
The overall IPL record of Shahbaz is impressive; he has 21 wickets in 55 matches and an economy of 9.35. He had some important cameos with the bat, amounting to 536 runs at 19.14. He is a player who can help any side by contributing with bat and ball.
Shahbaz would want to take this superb form into the next IPL season as part of the LSG squad. His experience and skills would motivate LSG in their quest for success.
