The youngest and the first-ever IPL auctioned cricketer is now the history for Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a 13-year-old from Bihar. The young prodigy was sold to Rajasthan Royals (RR) at a price shocking Rs 1.10 crore on Day 2 of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction in Jeddah. That made him the youngest player to register for the auction.

The RR and the DC stood in the bidding war between them to catch the same services of Suryavanshi. Eventually, DC dropped out of the bidding after RR offered the Rs 1.10 crore bid for him. The bidding was extensive, but the 14-year-old’s promising skills and status sparked an early entry for several other teams to bid for him.

This shock purchase for RR has pretty well made headlines in the world of cricket. The rapid acceptance of the 13-year-old into the RR squad clearly indicates skill and full faith in reinventing young talent by the teams.

As he starts his IPL voyage, Suryavanshi would expect to make heads turn and be a good part of the field by learning well from his mature teammates before setting foot on the pitch.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi made his first-class debut in Bihar’s Ranji Trophy

This cricketing sensation was only 12 years old when he shook the foundations by scoring 400 runs in five Vinoo Mankad Trophy matches for Bihar. He was soon flying up and he left everyone behind with his performances.

Vaibhav scored his maiden century off 58 balls against the Australian U-19 and noted that he is a Ranji Trophy debutant by Bihar at the age of just 12 years and 284 days. He also played for India U-19 in a youth Test match against Australia, scoring 104 runs.

Vaibhav has had a stellar sophomore season and has put in a ton of work, some of which is likely to have gotten him a spot in the India U19s. With his recent signing by the Rajasthan Royals during the IPL 2025 mega auction, he will soon be the youngest-ever player ever bought at an IPL auction.
