In a high-scoring encounter at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured a thrilling five-wicket victory over the Gujarat Titans (GT) in Match 34 of IPL 2026. Chasing a daunting target of 206, RCB’s batting lineup lived up to its reputation, finishing the game with seven balls to spare.

This win in their final home leg game at Bengaluru boosted the defending champions to the second spot on the points table. The Gujarat Titans, after being put in to bat, posted a massive 205/3 thanks to a spectacular century by Sai Sudharsan, who scored 100 off 58 balls.

Sudharsan anchored the innings with a massive 128-run opening stand alongside captain Shubman Gill (32). Despite the solid start, RCB’s bowlers managed to pull things back in the final four overs, conceding only 34 runs.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood were the pick of the bowlers, each claiming a wicket, while Suyash Sharma also dismissed Gill to break the dangerous opening partnership. A late cameo from Jason Holder (23)* helped GT cross the 200-run mark.

Kohli-Padikkal Stand Seals RCB’s Dominant Chase

RCB’s chase began with a significant stroke of luck when Virat Kohli was dropped on the very first ball he faced. The veteran batter made GT pay dearly for the lapse, smashing a brilliant 81 off 44 balls, including four sixes and eight boundaries. He found an aggressive partner in Devdutt Padikkal, who played a whirlwind knock of 55 off just 27 deliveries.

Their 115-run partnership for the second wicket effectively took the game away from Gujarat. Despite a minor middle-order stumble where Rashid Khan dismissed both Jitesh Sharma and Rajat Patidarin quick succession, RCB remained on track.

Krunal Pandya showed great composure, scoring an unbeaten 23 off 12 balls to seal the win, while Tim David chipped in with a useful 10 runs. For GT, Rashid Khan was the most effective bowler with figures of 2/49, but the lack of early wickets proved costly against RCB’s deep batting unit.
