Rishabh Pant made headlines on Day 1 of the IPL 2025 mega auction, commanding a staggering ₹27 crore as he was snapped up by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Shreyas Iyer followed closely, going to Punjab Kings (PBKS) for ₹26.75 crore, while Venkatesh Iyer was re-signed by the reigning champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), for an impressive ₹23.75 crore. Indian bowlers were in high demand, with Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal both securing ₹18 crore each from PBKS.

In total, 72 players were sold on the first day, with 12 remaining unsold. The auction, conducted by Mallika Sagar, featured 84 cricketers from the initial 12 sets.

Looking ahead to Monday, 33 capped players will be auctioned off, followed by an accelerated auction that includes both capped and uncapped players. Teams have been instructed to submit a list of 25 names each for this accelerated bidding round.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru will have the maximum amount in its purse – 30.65 crore, followed by Mumbai Indians (26.10 crore) and PBKS (22.50 crore).
