According the reports, IPL franchise owners may take action through the BCCI and they could be recommending to ban some international players who fail to keep their contracts by leaving without legitimate reasons after being bought during auctions.
This issue is expected to be discussed at a meeting scheduled for Wednesday, July 31st at 7:30 PM in Mumbai, between IPL franchise owners and BCCI. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) called their players back to international service before the playoffs in the IPL 2024 season.
Following a significant controversy surrounding the situation, Jos Buttler, who is England’s captain for white-ball matches and is also associated with the Rajasthan franchise in the IPL, expressed that there should be no bilateral international fixtures taking place during this T20 league.
In the past, the franchises were not convinced by the reason given for pulling out of IPL by personalities such as Jason Roy, Alex Hales and Wanindu Hasaranga. In the report by Cricbuzz, it is likely that on Wednesday’s significant meeting between BCCI and franchise owners, issues pertaining to defaulting foreign cricketers may be discussed.
Recently, the BCCI CEO held private meetings with officials from IPL franchises revealing their complaints against rogue players who left the tournament without a valid reason. Some of them suggested banning those players who do not adhere to any professional etiquette from the IPL.
BCCI Meeting With IPL Franchise Owners: Main Discussion Topics
On Wednesday in Mumbai, there are going to be discussions between BCCI officials and IPL team owners on several pertinent issues regarding the IPL 2025 mega auction and tournament rules. Reports indicate that the auction purse could be the main agenda for the important meeting.
Currently, the maximum amount that each franchise can use for player purchasing is ₹100 crore. It is said that franchises are looking up to BCCI for an increase in this limit.

Additionally, the Impact Player rule is something that will most likely be talked about during the meeting since it is something that has brought different opinions among fans and critics.
