As Indian wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan embarks on the India A tour to Australia, he received a heartfelt send-off from his family. A video circulating online captures his family members, including his mother and grandmother, showering him with blessings and affection. The 26-year-old is part of a 15-member squad led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, with high hopes for the upcoming matches.
Kishan, hailing from Patna, displayed visible emotions as he took his family’s well-wishes to heart before heading to the airport, marking a significant moment in his journey to represent India A.
Ishan Kishan’s Path to Redemption
After stepping back from the 2023 South Africa tour and missing critical games in the Ranji Trophy, Kishan faced setbacks, including being dropped from the BCCI’s central contract list. However, his recent performances showcase a strong comeback. He rejoined the field with the IPL 2024 season, progressively building momentum through domestic tournaments.

Participating in the Buchi Babu tournament and the Duleep Trophy, Kishan was later selected for the Irani Cup, where he represented the Rest of India against Mumbai. Notably, he scored a century for Jharkhand against Railways in the ongoing Ranji Trophy, reaffirming his skill and determination.
Upcoming Opportunity in Australia
India A will face Australia A in two unofficial Tests starting October 31, taking place in Mackay and Melbourne. These matches will be followed by an intra-squad game alongside the Indian senior team, who are preparing for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. With two Tests, 27 ODIs, and 32 T20Is under his belt, including his role in the 2023 World Cup squad, Kishan aims to make a strong impression as an opener.
Amid rumours of Rohit Sharma possibly missing the first few Border-Gavaskar Trophy matches, this tour could serve as Kishan’s chance to solidify his position and expand his role on the international stage.
