Team India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur is elated with the 2023 Women’s Premier League auction, which took place on Monday, February 12 in Mumbai. She was signed by the Mumbai Indians for INR 1.80 crores and will be leading the franchise in the upcoming edition. Kaur expressed that the Women’s Premier League auction is a game-changer for women’s cricket.
Harmanpreet Kaur was in the marquee set with a base price of INR 50 Lakhs. The Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians, and the UP Warriorz placed their bid for the all-rounder. Eventually, Mumbai Indians managed to secure Harmanpreet Kaur’s services for the inaugural season. The Indian skipper said, as quoted by Sports 18,
“It is a game changer for all of us. This will entirely change women’s cricket not just in India. We are all looking forward to that. MI fans have always been great and hope to emulate the men’s team.”

Harmanpreet Kaur further highlighted Mumbai Indians’ rich history in the Indian Premier League. The franchise has won five IPL titles and is the most successful team. Kaur expressed that she hopes to have a good time with the franchise, the emulate the success of the men’s team.
“I have always seen Mumbai Indians doing well in the IPL. I have the opportunity to be a part of MI and hope we will have a good time,” said Harmanpreet Kaur.
The all-rounder is currently leading the Indian team in the 2023 ICC T20 World Cup. India kicked off the campaign on Sunday, February 12 with a comfortable win against Pakistan. They defeated the arch-rivals by seven wickets, on the back of Jemimah Rodrigues fifty. Team India will take on West Indies next on February 15 in New Lands, Cape Town. They will play their last two league games against England and Ireland in Gqeberha.
