“It Looks Like A Good Facility”- Rahul Dravid On The Newly Built Nassau County International Cricket Stadium

The head coach of the Indian team, Rahul Dravid, gave his thoughts on the recently constructed Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York following India’s easy victory against Bangladesh in the exhibition match on June 1.

Head coach of the Indian team, Rahul Dravid, noted that the field was a little soft in a video that the BCCI posted on social media, which might have an impact on the players’ hamstrings and calves. He underlined that, considering the state of the field, the players’ welfare must come first.

“It’s great to get a good it-out. It looks like a good facility in terms of how quickly they have set up. The ground is a bit soft, and the guys could feel that on the hamstring and the calves. So that’s the area we need to ensure that we are working around and ensuring that the guys are looking after does feel a little bit heavy underneath,” Dravid said.

“A little bit spunky at times but I thought we coped well, we managed that well. The batters had put an above-par score on that wicket and the bowlers came out and bowled well. All in all, we got run-around and to get a game here is nice. Hopefully, we can prepare well for the next couple of days and be ready,” Dravid added.

Built in an astounding 103 days, the stadium can accommodate 34,000 spectators. Olympic great Usain Bolt opened the site on May 15. Eight games, three of which will feature India, are scheduled to take place at the stadium. After the stadium was finished, drop-in pitches were imported from Australia.
