Indian batsman Sanju Samson thinks he has done everything in his power to be ready for the T20 World Cup 2024, which will see the Indian cricket team play their opening match against Ireland at the Nassau County Stadium in New York on June 5.

Samson, who scored a total of 531 runs across 16 matches in the recently ended Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, has an incredibly steady batting career for RR. With Rishabh Pant as their backup wicketkeeper-batter, the 29-year-old’s outstanding batting clinched his spot in India’s World Cup squad.

Although Samson’s ability to secure a spot in the Indian playing XI is still unknown, interest in him has already skyrocketed.

Samson’s steady and resilient batting approach was praised by cricket enthusiasts and previous greats as a vital asset for India’s T20 World Cup campaign. Samson helped RR to the Qualifier 2 stage of the IPL 2024. Even though they lost to SRH in Qualifier 2, RR had a fantastic season all around under Samson’s direction.

“10 years of lots and lots of failures” – Sanju Samson

Indian batter Sanju Samson stated that the IPL 2024 was an important competition for him because he was aware that World Cup selection was likely. The most significant event in his life, according to him, was being chosen for the large event team. In an address to BCCI, he said:

“This is the most prepared or experienced Sanju Samson can come into a World Cup, actually. 10 years of lots and lots of failures, few successes here and there. Life and cricket have taught me everything I needed to know before we come to this crucial tournament” Sanju Samson said.

“The IPL itself had covered all my mental space. I think there was a lot to do. There was a lot to think about. Being the captain of the side, I think my mind was always occupied. But somewhere in the in the back of my head, it was there. Because I think World Cup selections are also around, and it was actually a huge thing. It was like one of the best things that could ever happen to my career.” Sanju Samson added.

Samson was removed for just one run in their warm-up match against Bangladesh, so his World Cup preparation has not gone as planned. Despite Samson’s collapse, India easily defeated Bangladesh thanks to some outstanding performances from players like Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya.
