Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), an Indian Premier League franchise (IPL), acquired England all-rounder Liam Livingstone for a staggering Rs 8.75 crore during the recent mega auction in Jeddah. RCB outbid Chennai Super Kings in a fierce bidding war to secure Livingstone, who was not retained by Punjab Kings.
Following his selection, Livingstone shared his excitement, noting that RCB’s playing philosophy suits his style. He stated:
“The fan base is incredibly passionate. It’s probably one of the biggest franchises in the IPL… It feels like a fresh start for me,” Livingstone told Reuters.
“I believe Bangalore will be great for my game. The stadium is slightly smaller than others in India, and definitely more suited to me compared to Punjab. Hopefully, my game should suit that place well.”
Liam Livingstone was acquired by Royal Challengers Bangalore for ₹8.75 crore
In the IPL 2025 auction, Royal Challengers Bangalore secured Liam Livingstone for ₹8.75 crore after an intense bidding war with franchises like Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Capitals, and Chennai Super Kings. Liam Livingstone began his IPL journey in 2019 with the Rajasthan Royals before spending the last three seasons with the Punjab Kings, where he scored a total of 827 runs.
Excited about joining Royal Challengers Bangalore, Livingstone expressed his enthusiasm for playing at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, famous for its short boundaries and high-scoring matches.
The 31-year-old also reflected on watching RCB’s iconic batting trio—Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle, and AB de Villiers—on television, calling it an inspiring experience.
Livingstone is now eager to make his mark alongside Virat Kohli and fellow Englishman Phil Salt, who was acquired by RCB for ₹11.5 crore, as the team sets its sights on claiming their first-ever IPL title.
“I think we had a strong auction and made some smart picks,” Livingstone remarked.
“There are a few familiar faces in the squad, which makes me even more excited to join the group. Playing alongside someone like Virat is going to be an amazing experience.”
