Ben Stokes, the captain of England, responded touchingly when James Anderson chose to spend his retirement day playing cricket with his children. On Friday, July 12, after England defeated the West Indies by an innings and 114 runs at Lord’s in the first Test, Anderson announced his retirement from international cricket.

The crowd got up to cheer for Anderson as he left the Lord’s stadium for the last time after the contest. At the end of his legendary career, Anderson accepted the applause with a moved expression on his face and tears in his eyes as he walked off the field.

Anderson decided to play cricket with Ben Stokes’ kids on his first day of retirement following the contest.

Anderson is seen gently bowling to the children in a lovely viral video. According to Stokes’ later comments, his son was fielding and his daughter was hitting at this special time.

Then Ben Stokes would disclose that his son had played some neat fielding and that his daughter was up against Anderson. Stokes added that although his children might not understand the magnitude of this event now, they will in the future.

“My daughter batting and my son doing the fielding, they got no idea but one day they will @jimmy9,” said Stokes on X.

Sachin Tendulkar of India, who has played 200 Test matches, is the only cricket player with more than James Anderson, who concluded his remarkable career with 188. In the red-ball format, Anderson has taken the third-most wickets of any bowler with 704—more than any other pacer.

The economy of the right-arm seamer is 2.79 and his bowling average is 26.45. With 32 five-fers and three ten-wicket hauls, Anderson amassed his career-best stats of seven for 42.
