James Vince Reacts To Andrew Tye’s Tactics In BBL Qualifier
CANBERRA, AUSTRALIA - JANUARY 30: James Vince of the Sixers shows his frustration as he walks away from Andrew Tye of the Scorchers after Tye bowled wide that gave the Sixers the win and left Vince not out on 98 during the Big Bash League match between the Sydney Sixers and the Perth Scorchers at Manuka Oval, on January 30, 2021, in Canberra, Australia. Sydney Sixers opener James Vince was left stranded on 98 as his knock took the team to their second successive BBL final. The Perth Scorchers will meanwhile, play the winner of the Knockout between Brisbane Heat or Sydney Thunder. The match is on Thursday (February 4) at the Optus Stadium in Perth. Sydney Sixers meanwhile will wait for the other finalist at the SCG. The Sixers won the game by nine wickets in a masterful chase.

James Vince’s 98 shaped up a brilliant win for the Sixers against the Scorchers at the Manuka Oval in Canberra. Chasing 168 to win, Vince’s unbeaten 98 was decorated by 14 fours and a six in his 53 ball knock. Interestingly, Daniel Hughes (21) who came into bat at number three after the fall of the first wicket blocked the entire 19th over to allow Vince to get to his 100.

Andrew Tye came into bowl with just one run needed for the Sixers to win the game. Tye bowled a wide down the leg side leaving Vince stranded on 98 which became the talking point in the game. Meanwhile, the England cricketer has reacted to Tye’s tactics in the qualifier encounter.

James Vince on Andrew Tye’s Tactics

“Only he will know (if the wide was intentional from Tye). A hundred would have been nice but happy to be there and in the grand final. Don’t want to point fingers. It almost hit him on the toes, it was pretty short. I hope he didn’t mean it anyway,” Vince said after the match.

Andrew Tye Faces Backlash On Twitter

Andrew Tye has faced criticism on Twitter which started with former England skipper Michael Vaughan. He said that it was unsporting from Tye to have bowled the no-ball and denying Vince a well-deserved ton in the process.
