Jasprit Bumrah Surpasses Wasim Akram With Historic Milestone In 1st Test vs England

India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah delivered a standout performance on Day 2 of the first Test against England at Headingley, Leeds, on Saturday, June 21. He set the tone early by dismissing Zak Crawley for a low score and later broke the 122-run partnership between Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope, providing a much-needed breakthrough in the third session.

Bumrah’s dismissal of Duckett marked a significant moment, not just in the match but also in his career. With that wicket, he overtook former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram to become the leading Asian fast bowler in terms of Test wickets in SENA countries—South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia.

Currently ranked No.1 in the ICC Test bowling rankings, Bumrah now has 38 wickets in South Africa, 39* in England, 6 in New Zealand, and 64 in Australia. In comparison, Akram had taken 7, 53, 50, and 36 wickets, respectively, in those nations during his legendary career.
