BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has came forward to help the stranded Indian media in Barbados, providing them seats at the special chartered flight carrying the Indian team from Barbados to Delhi.

The island nation of Barbados has been on high alert since Sunday, June 30, due to the threat of Hurricane Beryl, resulting in airport closures and leaving the Indian cricket team unable to depart. India Today’s Vikrant Gupta reported that Jay Shah will ensure the safe return of both the team and several stranded media personnel from Barbados.

“Special thanks to @JayShah for taking the initiative and ‘rescuing’ stranded Indian media in Barbados. As a gesture, the 20-odd media contingent have been offered to fly out with the Indian team on the special chartered flight from Barbados to Delhi! The special flight will take off In a few hours and land Delhi around 4-5 Thursday morning,” wrote Gupta on his X account.

Team India is scheduled to reach Delhi on July 4th

Gupta also showcased that the flight is planned to land in Delhi among 4 and 5 am, where they may be expected to encounter Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Fans are excitedly looking ahead to Team India’s return after their triumph in  the T20 World Cup 2024.

The Men in Blue beated South Africa through seven runs in the final matchon Saturday, June 29 at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados. Opting to bat first, India posted a competitive score of 176/7 in their allotted 20 overs, led by Virat Kohli’s top-scoring innings of 76 (59).

In response, South Africa managed only 169/8 in their 20 overs, with Hardik Pandya (3/20) successfully defending 15 runs for India in the final over. Subsequently, India marked their second T20 World Cup name, finishing a 17-years difference from their inaugural win in 2007 under the leadership of MS Dhoni in South Africa.

This triumph also noted the belief of India’s 11- year await an ICC Trophy, with their preceding major title being the 2013 Champions Trophy in England, also beneath Dhoni’s captaincy.

The whole nation enthusiastically awaits welcoming the World Champions India and excitedly expects the possibility to honour the team for their victory.
