Senior cricketer Jaydev Unadkat’s wife Rinny Kantaria shared a heartwarming post after her husband was called up to the Indian team for the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh. He has been recalled to the national team after 12 years.
The Saurashtra captain came into the side as Mohammed Shami‘s replacement. Shami suffered an injury ahead of the ODI series against the Bangla Tigers. The Bengal pacer was sidelined for the three 50-over games and will now miss the entire Test series.
Rinny, who has been part of Unadkat’s journey, shared a couple of pictures of the pacer holding the India jersey with sheer joy. Sharing the pictures on Instagram, she wrote:
“That proud wife moment 🤗❤️ #267.”

Jaydev Unadkat was quick to post a reply which read:
“You make me believe! ❤️❤️❤️.”
Unadkat made his debut in 2010 against South Africa in Centurion. He failed to live up to the expectations, returning wicketless as India suffered an innings and 25 runs defeat against the Proteas. Since then, he has featured in only seven ODIs and 10 T20Is.
However, Jaydev Unadkat has been a stalwart in the domestic circuit for Saurashtra. He enjoyed a record-breaking 2019-20 Ranji Trophy season, scalping 67 wickets and helping Saurashtra lift their maiden title. Overall, the left-arm pacer has 353 wickets in 96 first-class matches.
‘Most deserving bowler from domestic cricket’ – Dinesh Karthik on Jaydev Unadkat’s return
Veteran wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik has lauded Jaydev Unadkat as the most deserving bowler after his call-up to the Indian side. Labelling his return as heartwarming, Karthik reckoned that Unadkat was rewarded for his hard work.
“There has been a lot of talk about selections made, but this one is highly justified. He might not play this series, but the fact that he has been rewarded matters the most,” Karthik said.
It remains to be seen whether Jaydev Unadkat gets to play in any of the two-match Test series, that gets underway on December 14.
