Former South African fielding great Jonty Rhodes has applied for the position of Team India fielding coach as per reports. He has filed his nomination to be in line to become the next fielding coach for the No 1 Test team in the world. Regarded as the best fielder of all time, Rhodes has very recently applied for the post.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited fresh applications for all the support staffs which include head coach, assistant coach, and the rest of the support staff.
The current coaching panel including Ravi Shastri, Bharat Arun, Sanjay Bangar and fielding coach R Sridhar has been given a 45-day extended contract after the conclusion of the World Cup. However, all of them can reapply for the posts.
Meanwhile, it is also learnt that former Sri Lankan batsman and a current coach of Mumbai Indians, Mahela Jayawardena has applied for the post of Team India’s head coach.
Meanwhile, the news of Rhodes applying for the position of India’s fielding coach was made public by Mumbai Mirror on Wednesday. There is certainly no doubt about the fact that Rhodes is the finest fielder the world has seen for a long time.
