Jos Buttler’s Availability For The Australia T20Is In Question After He Withdrew From The Blast Quarter-Final

Jos Buttler won’t be featuring in the T20 Blast quarterfinals due to a setback in his recovery from calf injury and this implies that it will be difficult for him to recover in time for the T20I series against Australia.

England are not too concerned over Buttler’s fitness going into their first T20I on September 11 and still expect that he would be able to lead them throughout Australia’s eight-match white ball tour.

England’s restructured team is set to report at Utilita Bowl on Sunday before embarking on two days of training sessions where medical teams would have an idea whether Buttler will return to play.

There is no official vice captain for England’s white ball sides, with Sam Curran and Phil Salt being the key players likely to deputize should Buttler miss out. He is likely not going to keep wicket during the T20 series, which means there is high possibility of him taking part despite having suffered a setback.

Buttler has not competed in cricket since the T20 World Cup in June

The cricket player Buttler has not played any cricket since the semi-final defeat of England by India at T20 World Cup in June. He had a calf injury in July when he was preparing for the Hundred which made him to be out of this tournament, while he had been planning for his comeback at Hove during Wednesday’s quarter-final after several weeks of rehabilitation.

But he has now been ruled out of contention, as their coach Dale Benkenstein confirmed to BBC Radio Lancashire. “We’ve had some bad news on his recovery,” Benkenstein said.

“He had an injury he was recovering from, and he’s sort of tweaked it again. He’s not only just out of our T20s, but I think he’s even struggling to make the international ones. He was very keen to play for us.”

Lancashire will have their other England players on Wednesday night at Hove, as Salt, Liam Livingstone and Saqib Mahmood are all expected to participate.

For Sussex, Jofra Archer is likely to play, who is captained by Tymal Mills in the T20 category. It’s been years since there was a T20 quarter-final match held in Hove with spectators, and it’s been two weeks since tickets were completely sold out.
