Karun Nair Achieves A Historic List A Record In Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25

Indian cricketer Karun Nair showcased his exceptional form in domestic cricket, registering his fourth century of the ongoing 2024-25 Vijay Hazare Trophy for Vidarbha during a Round 6 match against Uttar Pradesh on Friday, January 3, at Vizzy Stadium in Vizianagaram.

In doing so, the 33-year-old achieved a new world record for the most consecutive List A runs without being dismissed. He began the tournament with a stellar unbeaten knock of 112 against Jammu and Kashmir.

In the following match against Chhattisgarh, Nair remained unbeaten on 44. He then produced back-to-back centuries, scoring 163* against Chandigarh and 111* against Tamil Nadu.

On January 3, Vidarbha faced Uttar Pradesh, who set a target of 307 runs, powered by Sameer Rizvi’s 105-run innings. In response, Karun Nair led the chase with a remarkable 112 off 101 balls before being dismissed by Bihari Rai.

Karun Nair’s fourth century of the tournament, and third in a row, saw him break James Franklin’s record of 527 runs for the most consecutive List A runs without dismissal. Nair now holds the world record with 542 runs.

He was well supported by Yash Rathod, who scored an unbeaten 138 off 140 balls, hitting 15 fours and a six. Vidarbha secured an eight-wicket victory with 16 balls to spare and now tops Group D with a perfect record of five wins in five games.

Karun Nair, alongside Virender Sehwag, is one of only two Indian players to score a Test triple-century

Karun Nair debuted for India in Tests in 2016 against England, managing just four runs in his first innings. However, in his third Test, also against England, he scored an unbeaten 303 off 381 balls at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, becoming the second Indian after Virender Sehwag to achieve a Test triple-century.

The 33-year-old has played six Tests for India, scoring 374 runs, along with two ODIs, in which he scored 46 runs.
