KL Rahul recently praised Indian vice-captain Rohit Sharma for always backing him. Rahul has had a similar journey much like Rohit Sharma in his early days in international cricket. Much like Rahul it also took Rohit time to play at his full potential and become a regular feature in the India team.
Rohit recently had commented the KL Rahul is India’s first-choice opener in T20Is ahead of him and Shikhar Dhawan. KL Rahul was humbled by these words of Rohit and stated that he has been a huge fan of his batting.

He has a senior player now in the squad has always believed in him and stood by him plenty of times. Rahul also revealed that Rohit is one of those players that make him dumbstruck.
“Humbled by Rohit’s words (that Rahul is the first choice and then it’s decided between me and Dhawan in T20Is). I have been a huge fan of his batting and I have played with him for a few years now but he is someone who is in the team, how do I say, like some cricketers get dumbstruck after watching Sachin Tendulkar, they don’t know what to say”, Rahul was quoted saying by India Today.
“When I am with Rohit off the field I have still not been able to get through. But he is someone in the team who has given me that sense that he has a lot of faith in me and as a senior player I have seen that he has backed me and stood by me on a lot of instances”.
He added, “When senior players feel like there is a guy who can take responsibility and can be amongst one of the senior players that give a young player or a player who has not played consistently for the country a lot of confidence”.
KL Rahul also talked about the infamous controversy involving him and Hardik Pandya. The two were immensely criticised over some comments on a popular chat show. Even BCCI suspended the two players and we’re not allowed to play cricket for quite some time.
