Team India cricketer KL Rahul has earned himself a tag of a wicket-keeper in the last few limited-overs series. He replaced out-of-form Rishabh Pant during the series and since then, has cemented his berth. Most recently, Rahul has drawn comparisons with the legendary MS Dhoni; however, the cricketer has downplayed all.
Notably, Rahul was quite impressive with the bat against West Indies and Australia and he also provided a number of good knocks in the matches against New Zealand. His fluent run in all-round series in consecutive series has made him the first choice for the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 to follow later this year in Australia.

Meanwhile, wicket-keeping is not something new to KL Rahul. He has always kept wickets for Karnataka in the domestic circuit. In a recent interview, Rahul said that he is willing to take up the role of wicket-keeper if the team needs him to.
“People who follow cricket know that I haven’t been away from wicket-keeping for too long as I donned the gloves in the IPL and every time I played for Karnataka. I am always in touch with wicket-keeping. I am also somebody who is more than willing to take up the role if the team needs me to,” Rahul said on Star Sports show Cricket Connected.

However, filling MS Dhoni’s shoes is a tough ask and KL Rahul is aware of that. The flamboyant cricketer accepts that it is difficult to cope up with the pressure as with every mistake fans will start comparing with Dhoni and ask the management to bring him back.
“I was nervous when I was doing it for India because of the crowd pressure. If you fumble a ball, people feel that you cannot replace MS Dhoni. The pressure of replacing a legendary wicket-keeper like MSD was immense as it involved people accepting someone else behind the stumps,” he added.
