The passionate encounter between India and Pakistan in New York on Sunday was merely a practice for their upcoming major match, which will take place in the Champions Trophy 2025 eight months from now. The bitter rivals may even get to meet sooner because they may play each other later this month in the Caribbean at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 knockout round.

In less than a year, the two teams will cross paths again during an incredible group stage match at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Rohit Sharma’s team prevailed in the first-ever match between India and Pakistan in the famous city of New York. Although they came quite close to winning, Babar Azam’s team was defeated.

With that triumph, the Men in Blue triumphed for a record seventh time and extended their lead over Pakistan in the ICC T20 World Cups.

Pakistan had the opportunity to defeat their fierce rivals in just their second meeting, but destiny had other ideas for Babar Azam’s team. The Green Army is now in danger of being eliminated from the World Cup during the group stages as a result of the defeat.

The Pakistan Cricket Board submits the  schedule to the ICC:

The 2025 Champions Trophy draft schedule has been sent to the International Cricket Council (ICC), and Cricbuzz can now confirm that the IndiaPakistan match will be the final league match of the eight-team, 15-match competition. As Cricbuzz previously reported on Sunday, the matches will take place between February 19 and March 9. The schedule for the matches is still being finalized.

The match will take place in Lahore, as per the suggested timetable. The event may have to use a hybrid model, similar to the one used for the Asia Cup last year, with the United Arab Emirates serving as the site for the India games, if the Indian government does not approve of playing in Pakistan. Nonetheless, it is thought that the PCB was instructed to proceed with its planning.

As everyone knows, the PCB has decided to hold the 20-day competition in Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi, with Lahore serving as the host city for the India games. Seven matches are scheduled in Lahore, five in Rawalpindi, and three in Karachi, the harbor city.

The first match is slated to take place on Wednesday, February 19, in Karachi; Rawalpindi and Karachi will host the two semifinals. According to the suggested schedule, all India games and, should they qualify, the semifinals will take place in Lahore on Sunday, March 9.

Currently, neither the PCB nor the ICC are discussing a hybrid model. A last-minute change in the circumstances is not unheard of, though. Now, all eyes will be on the Indian government and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
