India versus Australia, 2015 World Cup Semi-finals 26th March
India took on Australia in the second semi-final of the 2015 World Cup played at Sydney Cricket Ground. Australian captain Michael Clarke won the toss and decided to bat first. The hosts lost an early wicket of David Warner for 12.
Steve Smith and Aaron Finch put on 182 runs for the 2nd wicket. Smith scored 105, Finch 81, cameos by Shane Watson, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Johnson helped Australia post a massive total of 328 for 7 in 50 overs.
Chasing the target of 329 runs to win, Indian openers Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma started on a positive note adding 76 runs. After the fall of Dhawan’s wicket, the Australian bowlers kept picking wickets and bowled out India for 233 in 46.5 overs. Indian captain MS Dhoni was the top scorer with 65.Â
Australia won that game with 95 runs.
