Evergreen Sports Club batting first could not provide too much of trouble posting 115/8 in 20 overs. The bowlers were spot on with Kunal Nikam (3/16) & Kapil Wadhwa’s 3/23 in 4 overs being the pick of the lot.
Chasing 116 looked mere formality as Arasalan Oberoi and Shaun Rodrigues ensured their team stayed at the top. Despite the openers falling early, Arsalan scored 39* at no.3 while Shaun played the attacking role scoring 60* off just 46 balls at a handy strike rate of 130.43 as John Bright CC won the match by 8 wkts and 2.4 overs to spare.
Kandivali Cricket Association vs Amar Cricket Club, Oval Maidan
Kandivali Cricket Association batting first posted 130/6 in 20 overs with Kandivali CA’s most experienced player Umang Shah coming to the forefront with 71 runs in 51 balls opening the innings. From the bowlers, former Ranji Trophy bowler Digvijay Singh with 3/20 in 4 overs was the pick of the lot.
Amar CC in reply could not chase the total successfully managing only 120/5 in 20 overs. Siddarth Sharma at no.3 scored a 54 ball 62 but he lacked support from the other end as Kandivali C.A won the match by 10 runs.
Yogi CC vs Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana, Matunga Gymkhana
Yogi CC batting first at Dadkar Maidan posted a very healthy total of 176/7 in 16 overs backed by a brilliant 79 off just 40 balls by youngster Vedant Gadia. Left-handed Vedant who is probably amongst the youngest players showed good confidence taking on the bowlers with superlative ease. Vedant’s innings also consisted 10 fours and 4 sixes. Off-spinner Kunal Gawand with 4/34 in 4 overs was the pick of the lot for JVPG team.
JVPG in reply were all out for 134 runs thanks to some tight bowling by the Yogi CC bowlers. Shailesh Dubli (3/28), Ashish Yadav (2/26) & Vedant Gadia with 2/11 were the pick of the lot. Eventually, Yogi CC won the match by 42 runs while Vedant Gadia with his all-round performance won hearts as well as man of the match award.
