Lizelle Lee Sets Historic Record In Women’s Big Bash League

Lizelle Lee made history by scoring an unbeaten 150 runs, becoming the first player to achieve this milestone in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL). Her remarkable score also ranks as the fifth-highest in women’s T20 cricket globally, with Lucia Taylor of Argentina holding the record at 169 runs.

Playing for the Hobart Hurricanes, Lee’s incredible knock led her team to a dominant 72-run victory over the Perth Scorchers in match 21 of the WBBL. Her powerful performance took place at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on November 10, where she set multiple records and redefined expectations in women’s cricket.

Breaking Records with Unmatched Sixes

Lee’s performance also saw her shatter records for sixes in a women’s T20 game. She hit an astonishing 12 sixes, surpassing the previous record of 11 set by Grace Harris in 2023. Harris, who played for Brisbane Heat, had achieved her record also against the Perth Scorchers.

Lee’s powerful hitting not only placed her in the record books but also highlighted her unique skill and determination. By scoring 150, Lee surpassed Harris’ previous WBBL individual record of 136*, making her knock one of the most memorable in the league’s history. Lee’s performance has set a new standard for individual achievements in women’s T20 cricket, inspiring fans and players alike.

Boosting Hobart Hurricanes’ Standing in the League

Thanks to Lee’s historic innings, the Hobart Hurricanes rose to second place on the WBBL points table. They now have eight points from six games, securing three wins and three losses. Although they share the same number of wins as the Sydney Thunder, the Thunder lead with a higher net run rate.

Lee’s knock not only gave her a personal record but also strengthened her team’s position in the league, putting them in a favorable spot for the remaining season. As the WBBL continues, Lee’s unprecedented 150* will be a benchmark for players and a proud moment for the Hobart Hurricanes.
