“Magnificent Singer Of Our Times” – Virat Kohli, Virender Sehwag Lead Tributes From The Cricket Fraternity For Singer KK

The cricket fraternity is saddened by the untimely demise of singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK. Indian cricketer Virat Kohli and other former players, Virender Sehwag, VVS Laxman, and Yuvraj Singh expressed grief and offer condolences to the singer’s family.

KK performed at a concert organized by Gurudas College at Kolkata’s Nazrul Mancha auditorium yesterday, May 31. He felt heavy after reaching his hotel, and collapsed, said the officials. KK was taken to a nearby private hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead. The doctors said they suspected “cardiac arrest” to be the cause of the death.

“KK was brought to the hospital around 10 pm. It’s unfortunate that we could not treat him,” a senior official of the hospital said.

KK was born on August 23, 1968, He recorded songs in several languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, and Bengali. The singer will be always remembered for songs like ‘Pyaar Ke Pal’, ‘Yaaron’, ‘O Meri Jaan’, among many others.

Cricketers express grief at the untimely death of Singer KK

Meanwhile, tributes started pouring in from the cricket fraternity for the versatile singer. They expressed grief at the passing of the 53-year-old singer and remembered his legacy.

Former India cricketer, Virender Sehwag expressed his condolences to the family and friends of the singer. He wrote,

“Tragic to hear about the passing away of KK after falling ill while performing in Kolkata. Another reminder of how fragile life is. Condolences to his family and friends. Om Shanti.”

Virat Kohli called KK a “magnificent singer of our times”. He wrote, Lost a magnificent singer of our times and so suddenly. Condolences to his family and close ones. #KK

Former India cricketer Anil Kumble wrote, Deeply saddened by the passing of KK. Condolences to his family and friends.”

Wasim Jaffer shared a verse from KK’s famous song ‘Pal’ to remember and pay tribute to the singer. He wrote,Hum Rahe Ya Na Rahe Kal Kal Yaad Aayenge Yeh Pal “Heartbreaking to know that KK is no more. Thoughts and prayers with his family and friends.”
