Former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar has slammed Virat Kohli’s critics, asking them to respect the Indian cricketer. He expressed that is “the greatest player of all time”.

Virat Kohli is going through a lean phase in his career for the last couple of years. In the recently concluded Indian Premier League, he averaged just 22.73 and played with a strike rate of 115.98. The right-hander looked good in a few innings, but could not convert it into a big score. He was subjected to a lot of criticism by experts and fans. However, Shoaib Akhtar has backed the Indian cricketer.

In a conversation on Sportskeeda, Shoaib Akhtar expressed that people should give Virat Kohli the respect that he deserves. He added that he wants to see Kohli make 110 international centuries. Shoaib said,

“Before passing statements, people should understand that small kids look up to them. Say good things about Virat Kohli. Give him the respect he deserves. As a Pakistani, I am saying that he is the greatest player of all time. I want him to score 110 centuries in international cricket. I want him to play till the age of 45.”

“This tough situation is preparing you for 110 centuries. People are writing you off, tweeting against you. If you tweet about Diwali, you are criticized. People tweet about your wife and kid. When you lose the World Cup, you are heavily criticized. Things cannot get any worse. Just go out there, and show everyone who Virat Kohli is,” he added.

People should learn from Sachin Tendulkar, he doesn’t tweet or say anything hurtful: Shoaib Akhtar

Shoaib Akhtar has urged Virat Kohli’s critics to learn from legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. He expressed that Sachin respects cricketers and does not tweet anything hurtful. Shoaib Akhtar said,

“Sachin Tendulkar is the greatest and humblest guy ever. I really adore him when it comes to his behavior and nature. He is always thoughtful about what he says and respects other cricketers.
“People should learn from Sachin Tendulkar. Despite being such a great cricketer, he doesn’t tweet or say anything that can hurt anyone. Similarly, other former cricketers should give mature statements,” he added.
Virat Kohli has been rested for upcoming India vs South Africa T20I series. He will join the squad for the England tour in June.
