After a crisis filled the week with a series of resignations in CA, things are seeming to return to normalcy. Former skipper Graeme Smith was appointed the director of operations a couple of days ago. Now, Mark Boucher is set to function as the head coach of the Proteas side. He will be associated with the side until the 2023 ICC World Cup in India.
It was earlier reported that Smith was very keen on Boucher”s inclusion as the permanent director of cricket. However, the announcement has now come, and the Proteas would be hoping for a miracle in days to come.
With a lot of seniors retiring from the side in a span of a year, the team is striving to hit hard at the opponents. South Africa lost their recent series against India in Tests (3-0 margin). With the English all set to visit by the end of this month, the side will be looking forward to creating magic.
The squads aren”t out yet but a lot of youngsters are set to be considered for the series. The hosts lost the series in 2016 which remains a big shock to them. Will the things take a turnaround??
Open to talks with De Villiers: Boucher
Mark Boucher also said that he will discuss the possibilities of the International return of their star player Ab De Villiers. The team has been in doldrums now and struggling to give a tough fight in competitions.
With the ICC Test Championship and T20 WC not so far, it will be interesting to see how Boucher will lift the spirits in the dressing room
