The Wankhede Stadium always supports the Cricket Association of Mumbai; however, the Mumbai Cricket Association on Thursday declared that the Wankhede Stadium will be open for Team India T20 World Cup champions, and the visitors will be able to watch the match for free.

The MCA has plans for an open bus victory parade, which will be overseen by the BCCI and the Mumbai Police; a grand and luxurious ceremony of awarding the players will follow. Apart from the MCA representatives, the secretary, Ajinkya Naik, was also glad to be part of the swearing-in ceremony.

“MCA has made preparations for the public. Under the guidance of Mumbai Police and BCCI, we are going to give free entry to the public on first come first preference. We had a meeting with Mumbai Police yesterday. MCA has kept the maximum police force. It is a proud moment for MCA and the country and we are very excited to welcome the Indian team today.”

The Indian cricket team that has recently won the T20 World Cup 2024 arrived in Delhi on a charter flight on Thursday morning. Their comeback was hindered due to a category 4 hurricane that ensured the team stayed in Barbados.

The champion Indian squad has been waiting a long time to return home after winning the T20 World Cup in the Caribbean and the United States. The climax occurred last Saturday, June 29, but storm Beryl has since imposed a lockdown-like situation in Barbados and other Caribbean regions.

As a result, travel was halted, airports were closed, and flights were non-operating. However, the team managed to secure an Air India charter in Barbados on Tuesday, July 2 (local time), thanks to the cooperation of the BCCI, Indian authorities, Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley, and others.

The Men in Blue, along with their families, a few Indian journalists, and BCCI administrators, including secretary Jay Shah, arrived in Delhi early on Thursday, July 4.
