Michael Hussey Tests COVID Positive

Former Australian cricketer Michael Hussey has tested COVID positive for the second time. The test was conducted earlier today. Though the symptoms were not that serious he has tested positive for the second time nonetheless. he is quarantined in India after his first reports and is yet to travel back to Australia. The southpaw is understood to have sat next to a bus assistant. He became the first overseas member in the IPL to be infected with the coronavirus. He also couldn’t join the rest of the Australians, who went to the Maldives.

“We’ve spoken to Mike today. He is in good spirits. His symptoms are relatively mild. He is in a stint of isolation in his hotel room…he has good support systems around him,” Todd Greenberg, the chief executive of the Australian Cricketers’ Association, was quoted as saying in ESPNcricinfo.

Meanwhile, the BCCI suspended the IPL 2021 on May 4 after players from several IPL camps tested COVID positive despite staying in air-tight bubbles. KKR have been most affected by the virus. After Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier, Prasidh Krishna and Tim Seifert also tested positive for COVID-19.

Meanwhile BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has already said that the remainder of the IPL 2021 cannot be hosted in India and that there are not in any hurry to play out the remaining season. The BCCI also said that they are looking at a possible window in September to end the season. 

Meanwhile, Team India will be playing the World Test Championship final against New Zealand in Southampton following which they have a series against Sri Lanka in July. Rahul Dravid is likely to coach the side with Shikhar Dhawan as the captain. 

There are no reports of the squad for the Sri Lanka tour being announced as of now. However, the confirmation of the tour was given by BCCI President Sourav Ganguly to Sportstar
