Mitchell Starc bowled just one over late on day 4 but sustained a hamstring issue. The left-arm fast bowler grabbed his hamstring between the over but decided to complete it. After the conclusion of day 4, Aussie batsman Steve Smith spoke about the injury of Starc and stated that he is hopeful that he will bowl and play a key role tomorrow.

Starc is expected to be lethal on the Gabba pitch which now consists of uneven bounce. The fast bowler looked uncomfortable during the closing stages of day 4 which will now be a concern for Australia. The hosts require 10 wickets on day 5 to win the Test and the series against a determined Indian side.

Talking about Starc, Smith asserted that the medical team will monitor his injury and he expects him to bowl again on the last day of the Test match. So far the fast bowling trio of Australia had remained injury-free throughout the Test series but it now seems Starc has picked a hamstring niggle.

“I am not sure (about it), to be honest with you. Like, I saw the same thing, walking back, (Mitchell Starc) grabbing at his right hamstring”.

“I’m sure he’ll get assessed by the medical staff and one thing I know about Mitchell is he’s tough and he’s played through some injuries before and got the job done, so he will be hopefully good to go tomorrow,” Smith said concerning Starc.

Meanwhile, it is expected to be a mouth-watering contest between India and Australia on the last day of a gruelling Test series. The Indian team require a total of 324 runs on the last day with 10 wickets in hand to win back to back Test series in Australia.

Nevertheless, it is not going to be easy as the Brisbane pitch has now started playing tricks which will make like difficult for Indian batsmen. Australia will be looking to rotate their 3 fast bowlers and give Nathan Lyon long spells to bowl from the other end on day 5 of the last Test match.
