MLC 2023: [WATCH] Yusuf Pathan Revisits Glory Days, Hits Three Sixes Off Mohammad Amir

Former India player Yusuf Pathan delivered an outstanding performance, leading the Joburg Buffaloes to a resounding victory over the Durban Qalandars in the Zim Cyber City Zim Afro T10 Qualifier 1. The match, held at the Harare Sports Club, witnessed Yusuf’s spectacular knock of an unbeaten 80 runs from just 26 deliveries.

The Durban Qalandars, who had dominated the league stage, started slowly, losing the in-form Tim Seifert early in the third over. However, Mirza Tahir Baig and Andre Fletcher picked up the pace, forming a formidable partnership and propelling the Qalandars to a challenging total of 140/4 in their allotted 10 overs.

In response, the Joburg Buffaloes’ opening didn’t go as smoothly as they hoped. The Qalandars’ bowlers displayed exceptional skills, claiming important wickets, including that of Mohammad Hafeez and Tom Banton. By the fifth over, the Buffaloes were 56/3, and the Qalandars seemed to have the upper hand.

However, the situation turned around when Yusuf Pathan and Mushfiqur Rahim joined forces. They absorbed the pressure and gradually built a solid foundation. In the 8th over, Yusuf Pathan launched an incredible assault on Mohammad Amir, smashing three sixes and a boundary, adding 25 crucial runs to the scoreboard.

With two overs remaining, the Buffaloes needed 39 runs to win. Yusuf Pathan reached his fifty in the 9th over and continued to display his vintage form, much to the delight of the fans. As the final over commenced, the Buffaloes required 20 runs for victory.

In an exceptional display of power hitting, Yusuf smashed two fours and two sixes in the final over, securing the win with a boundary. His extraordinary knock ensured the Joburg Buffaloes reached the Zim Afro T10 final in style, marking a memorable moment in the tournament.
