Pakistan all-rounder Mohammed Hafeez has had a dramatic week so far as he has once again tested COVID-19 positive. According to sources, the first test sample was retested in the laboratory which has turned out to be positive.

Meanwhile, the testing process carried out in Pakistan has been questioned due to the recent controversy regarding Hafeez’s test. Incidentally, his reports came positive during a test conducted by PCB; however, he claimed that he is not carrying the virus after undergoing a private test.

Mohammad Hafeez conundrum lands PCB in trouble

The veteran all-rounder posted a photo of the report on the social media which created a lot of stir. It even questioned the credibility of Pakistan Cricket Board. On 23rd June, PCB released a statement saying 7 more players other than Haris Rauf, Haider Ali and Shadab Khan have tested positive which also included Mohammed Hafeez.

“After Tested positive COVID-19 acc to PCB testing Report yesterday, as 2nd opinion & for satisfaction I personally went to Test it again along with my family and here I along with my all family members are reported Negative Alham du Lillah. May Allah keep us all safe,” Hafeez tweeted

Moreover, the ongoing confusion has also led to people questioning the laboratory. As a result, the professor who conducted the first test once again tested the sample which has turned out to be positive.

“We decided to retest the sample to maintain the credibility of the laboratory,” said laboratory official. “Hafeez’s act has raised questions on the testing process of Pakistan,” said an official from the lab.

As the drama continues chief Executive PCB, Wasim Khan questioned Mohammad Hafeez for posting the COVID-19 Test report on Twitter. Wasim felt it would have bee right if the cricketer shared his concern with the Pakistan Cricket Board. The CEO believes this will land Pakistan in a lot of trouble with people questioning their medical infrastructure.

“You should have contacted us first before posting your report publicly, your tweet has raised plenty of questions on our testing system,” said Wasim Khan questioning Hafeez’s actions.

On the other hand, PCB is confident and most likely to go ahead with the scheduled England series. The team is due to leave for England on Sunday for three Tests and three T20s.
