Mohammad Rizwan Breaks Rishabh Pant’s Record In A WTC Match

From Pakistan, Mohammad Rizwan, a Wicket Keeper Batter, scored 171 runs in the first innings of the first Test match between his country and Bangladesh at Rawalpindi. He scored 51 runs in the second inning during the day’s play for the fifth and last Test match on Sunday, August 25.

In the opening game of the series held at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Rizwan established a new record when he registered 222 runs across both innings.

When it comes to wicketkeeper-batters making the highest scores ever recorded during World Test Championship matches, then it is obvious that this 32-year-old is number one. In July 2023, the reschedule match against England held at Edgbaston saw Indian Rishabh Pant gain new heights after hitting up to 203 runs. Just like Rizwan, Pant also lost his team’s match even after making 146 runs during the first innings and 57 during the second one.

Mohammad Rizwan’s bold efforts with the bat were in vain

The latest Rawalpindi test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh ended in a shocking 10 wicket defeat despite an outstanding batting performance by Mohammad Rizwan.

Pakistani players were left speechless that they could lose the first-ever test match against Bangladesh even after playing their best. A good knock from the right-handed batsman in the first innings helped Pakistan come back from a poor start to record a huge total.

Again, in another Test match against Bangladesh, Pakistan found themselves at 16 for 3 and 114 for 4. However, it fell upon Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel who had huge runs to bail their team out of trouble. While Rizwan remained not out at 171 runs, Shakeel scored out for 141 runs. Experienced player Mushfiqur Rahim led Bangladesh to an imposing lead of 117 runs.

Pakistan collapsed on the fifth day, losing only 146 runs. In the second inning, Rizwan also scored 51 runs. Bangladesh achieved a historic victory by chasing down the target of 30 runs in less than 7 overs without losing a wicket.
