Mohammed Shami, an Indian fast bowler, is about to return to competitive cricket after a nearly year-long absence. He played his final match on November 19, 2023, against Australia in the ODI World Cup final. On November 13, Bengal will play Madhya Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy, which is when Shami’s comeback is expected to commence.

For both Bengali and Indian cricket fans, Shami’s comeback to the pitch is a huge plus. The seasoned pace bowler has been putting a lot of effort into getting fitter and recovering. Since his performance in the Ranji Trophy would be a key sign of his preparedness for competition on a global scale, it will be widely followed.

Shami’s successful return could be crucial in bolstering the bowling assault of the national squad given India’s impending cricket obligations. When he returns to the field, all eyes will be on his performance.

Mohammed Shami wasn’t picked in India’s Test squad:

The most recent development has raised hopes that Mohammed Shami, who was left out of India’s Test squad for the Australia tour, could visit Australia at least in the second half if he can demonstrate his match fitness. Remarkably, Shami was left off of Bengal’s roster when the fourth and fifth rounds were released.

“Shami’s inclusion in the Bengal team will not just be a big boost but also lift the morale of the entire team, which aims to make it to the next round of the Ranji Trophy. Shami, who has been out of competitive action since India’s ODI World Cup final in Ahmedabad last November, will spearhead the Bengal pace bowling attack against Madhya Pradesh,” the statement from the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) read.

He will play in the game on Wednesday after obtaining the required approval from the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and joining the Bengal team later today in Indore.
