Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Viswanathan revealed that Mahendra Singh Dhoni will be taking medical advice to treat his knee injury. He added that if surgery is advised, the final call will be of the wicket-keeper batter. Mahendra Singh Dhoni was struggling with a knee injury, throughout the 2023 Indian Premier League.
The Chennai Super Kings skipper was sporting a knee brace during the season, which sparked concerns over his fitness. However, he did not miss a single game and led the team to their fifth Indian Premier League title. CEO Kasi Viswanathan expressed that Mahendra Singh Dhoni will be taking medical advice to decide if surgery is necessary. He said,
“Yes, it is true that Dhoni will be taking medical advice for his left knee injury and accordingly decide. If surgery is advised, it can only be ascertained after reports come out, it will be completely his call.”

Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been part of the Indian Premier League since the very first season. He has won five titles with the Chennai Super Kings and is one of the most successful captains in the tournament. There were speculations about the 2023 Indian Premier League season being his last. However, Mahendra Singh Dhoni expressed that there is time to decide on his future. He said,
“If you see, this is the best time to announce my retirement. But the amount of love and affection I have been shown wherever I have been this year, the easy thing would be for me to say ‘Thank you very much’, but the tough thing for me is to work hard for another 9 months and come back and play at least 1 more season of IPL.”
“A lot depends on the body, I have 6-7 months to decide. It will be more like a gift from my side, it’s not easy for me but that’s a gift. The way they’ve shown their love and affection, I think that’s something I need to do for them,” he added.
