The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has launched a new T20 league of its own called T20 Mumbai League. The MCA had called for Expression of Interest (EOI) from agencies for management of the T20 league. The tournament will be played from January 4- 9 2018.
MCA had invited Expression of Interest. Eventually, 4 agencies submitted EOIs and presented before the Managing Committee of MCA. The evaluation was done by a financial consultant with respect to eligibility criteria.
Another round of discussion was called upon to discuss issues like financials, logistics and marketing and operations. Willingness was shown by the agencies to conduct the tournament within the given time frame.
After evaluation of EOIs and presentation, the Managing Committee of MCA appointed the consortium of IIFL Group/Associates and Wizcraft group for exclusive management of the T20 tournament.
The league will consist of six teams namely, Mumbai North-west, Mumbai North-East, Mumbai North, Mumbai North Central, Mumbai South and Mumbai South Central. The tournament will be played in a round-robin format starting on January 4 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. The final will be played on January 9.

Mumbai maybe stalwarts in Ranji Trophy winning the title 41 times, but the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (Domestic T20 tournament) has always eluded them. They would hope this league would throw up some talented players that would enable them to nd the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Title drought.
