Shakib Al Hasan, the Bangladeshi renowned all-rounder, is involved in a murder investigation in his home country.The case has been raised by victim’s father Rafiqul Islam who accused the 37-year old man of involvement with Rubel’s murder.
Reports say Rubel was shot dead on August 5. Among the people mentioned are Sheikh Hasina, former Prime Minister of Bangladesh and Shakib Al Hasan. Inspector Muhammad Nazrul Islam told Bangladesh News 24 that the case has been lodged at Adabor Police Station.
More than just Shakib Al Hasan and Sheikh Hasina have been named during this process; Nazmul Hassan, ex-president for Bangladesh Cricket Board falls into this category as well as 156 others, reports Bangladesh News 24.

- Amir Hossain Amu
- Hasanul Haque Inu

- Dilip Barua
- Anwar Hossain Manju
- Abdullah Al Mamun (former IGP Chowdhury)
- Harun-or-Rashid (former RAB DG)
- Habibur Rahman (former DMP Commissioner)
- Harunor Rashid (former DB chief)
- Obaidul Quader
- Syed Sayedul Haque Sumon (ex-MP)
- Ferdous Ahmed (film actor)
Alongside these names, few organisations were named in the murder case, which are as follows:
- The Bangladesh Awami League
- Chhatra League
- Jubo League
- Shechhashebok League
- Sramik League
- Tanti League
- Krishak League
- Matsyajibi League

This is a highly significant component of the World Test Championship (WTC) cycle for 2023 to 2025, and currently, Shakib Al Hasan is playing for Bangladesh in the on-going Test series against Pakistan. All these teams are on a race to gather points so as to secure their places in the World Test Championship Final, which is scheduled for less than a year away. Even though Australia and India are considered as the favourites to play in the 2023 finals, they still have to ensure that they meet the required eligibility criteria mathematically.
The series with Pakistan gives Bangladesh a good opportunity to grab valuable points and rise on the WTC table. Since Shakib is an all-rounder with lots of experience, his presence is very important if we want to make any progress in terms of chances.
