Musheer Khan captivated everyone with his remarkable performance on his Duleep Trophy debut, scoring a stunning 181 runs against India A on Friday. Facing 373 balls, Musheer’s innings included 16 boundaries and 5 sixes. He established a record for the highest eighth-wicket partnership in the tournament’s history with Navdeep Saini, propelling India B to a substantial total.

This extraordinary knock placed Musheer ahead of cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar in an elite category. His 181 is the third-highest score by a teenager on debut in the Duleep Trophy, trailing only behind Baba Aparajith and Yash Dhull. Tendulkar’s debut score was 159.

Navdeep Saini also made a notable impact, showcasing his skills with the new ball and helping India B restrict India A to 134 for two in the first innings. Saini, who has been out of the international spotlight since the 2021 Australia series, demonstrated his form by dismissing India A’s captain Shubman Gill (25) and his opening partner Mayank Agarwal (36). Saini’s crucial breakthrough came just before tea, ending the first-wicket partnership of 57 runs between Gill and Agarwal.

At stumps, KL Rahul (23 from 80 balls) and Riyan Parag (27 from 49 balls) are batting, leaving India A trailing by 187 runs. Saini’s effective spell, marking his first red-ball appearance since January, has sparked hopes for his resurgence. If he continues to take wickets, Saini could add a significant chapter to his comeback story, which already includes recent appearances for India A against England Lions and South Africa A.

As the match progresses, Musheer Khan’s exceptional debut knock and Navdeep Saini’s impressive bowling have set the tone for India B’s strong performance. Musheer’s innings not only secured his place among the tournament’s top debutants but also showcased his potential as a future star in Indian cricket.

Meanwhile, Saini’s return to form could open doors for his re-entry into the national team setup. With India A still trailing significantly, the outcome of this match may hinge on Saini’s ability to capitalize on his early breakthroughs, making the next few sessions crucial for both sides.
