The 2024 ICC U19 World Cup is all set to kick off on January 19 in South Africa, with the USA taking on Ireland. The tournament will be played across various venues, including Potchefstroom, Bloemfontein, Benoni, Kimberley and East London. The mega-event provides a huge tournament for youngsters all across the world to showcase their talent. It also features relatives of some of the most famous cricketers, such as the likes of Musheer Khan, Hassan Eisakhil, etc.

Relatives of Famous Cricketers at the 2024 U19 World Cup

India

Musheer Khan is Mumbai batter Sarfaraz Khan’s brother. Musheer has also represented Mumbai at the domestic level and is one of the promising players to watch out for at the U19 World Cup this year.

Afghanistan

Former Afghanistan skipper Mohammad Nabi’s son, Hassan Eisakhil, will likely be the opening batter for Afghanistan at the U19 World Cup. The team also features spin wizard Rashid Khan’s nephew, Usman Khan Shinwari; and Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Ibrahim Zadran’s cousin, Jamshid Zadran.

England

Luc Benkenstein, son of former South Africa player Dale Benkenstein is the vice-captain of the England U19 squad. Meanwhile, Haydon Mustard, son of Phil Mustard, has followed his father’s wicketkeeping footsteps The squad also features, Joe Denly’s nephew, Jaydn Denly and Rehan Ahmed’s brother Farhan Ahmed.

Bangladesh 

Bangladesh opener Jishan Alam is the son of former Bangladesh batter Jahangir Alam.

Pakistan

Ubaid Shah is the brother of Pakistan bowler Naseem Shah. He is one of the brightest pacers in Pakistan cricket at the moment.

West Indies

Devonie Joseph, the West Indies wicketkeeper, is the nephew of former batter Devon Smith

New Zealand

Tom Jones is New Zealand’s vice-captain at the mega-event. He is the grandson of Jeremy Coney, a former New Zealand cricketer. Meanwhile, pacer Matt Rowe is the cousin of Hannah Rowe.

Scotland

Ibrahim Faisal is the twin brother of Maryam Faisal, who played for Scotland at the inaugural U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup last year. Meanwhile, their grandfather Naushad Ali also played for Pakistan in 1965. The team also features, Offspinner Qasim Khan and allrounder Uzair Ahmed, who are the cousins of International cricketers, Majid Haq, Hamza Tahir and wicketkeeper Omer Hussain.

Ireland

Ryan Hunter, the Ireland wicket-keeper is the cousin of Amy Hunter who captained  Ireland in the women’s U19 World Cup in 2023. Meanwhile, Regan West, former left-arm spinner’s son, James West is also part of Ireland’s U-19 World Cup squad.

Namibia

Zacheo Van Vuuren is the son of former Namibia player Rudi Van Vuuren.

Zimbabwe

Kevin Arnott, former cricketer, who faced Zimbabwe’s first ball in Test cricket will witness his cousin, Matthew Schnoken, captain Zimbabwe at the 2024 U-19 World Cup.

USA

Sushil Nadkarni faced the USA’s first ball in T20Is during the 2010 ICC World T20 qualifier. His son, Aarin Kulkarni, is part of the USA U-19 WC side.
