In the most bizarre scorecard one will ever come across, Nagaland”s U-19 girls were bowled out for 2 in 17 overs against Kerala. It happened in the ongoing BCCI Women”s Under-19 One-Day League and Knockout Tournament at the JKC college ground, Guntur.
There were nine ducks and the only scorer with the bat was opener Menka who contributed one. There was one wide. Kerala skipper Minnu Mani was the wrecker-in-chief with figures of 4-0 from 4 overs. Surabaya P bowled 6 maiden overs picking 2 wickets. Sandra Suren and Biby Sebastian shared a wicket without conceding a run.
Chasing 3 to win, Kerala knocked off the runs in one delivery. Nagaland”s opening bowler Deepika Kaintura bowled the first ball wide. Then off the next delivery, Kerala opener Ansu S Raju hit a four to seal the deal.
Despite their emphatic win, Kerala could not qualify for last 4 stage. They managed to win only 2 out of 5 games.
“It was a great win. We have been playing good cricket but today girls were exceptional. Nagaland was not a great side and they were scoring 20″s, 30″s and 40″s but bowling them out for two was brilliant. Credit goes captain Minnu and other girls in the squad,” Kerala coach Suman Sharma told to TOI after the game.
