Shafali Verma's clean hitting at the top has been one of the significant reasons behind India's scintillating start to the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2020. The young batter has impressed one and all with her power including former England skipper Nasser Hussain, who heaped praise on the youngster.
In the two games India have played so far in the mega event, Harmanpreet Kaur & Co remain unbeaten having got the better of tournament-favourites and host Australia as well as Asian rival Bangladesh. Both the games witnessed same scripts as they defended small totals, thanks to leg-spinner Poonam Yadav's outstanding display. Meanwhile, it is the 16-year-old Shafali Verma, who has provided India with quickfire starts with the bat in both the games.

Shafali, who idolises Sachin Tendulkar, has made full use of the fielding restrictions in both the games to set the tone for her side. While she returned with an impressive 15-ball 29 (26 runs in boundaries) against Australia, she carried the momentum forward versus Bangladesh with a 17-ball 39 (including 4 sixes).
Her batting display has earned accolades from all quarters including the stalwarts of the game. Recently, former cricketer-turned commentator Nasser Hussain also hailed Shafali Verma's batting antics which has set the T20 World Cup on fire.
"This girl can seriously play!" Hussain wrote on Twitter.
