Nasser Hussain Slams England’s Team Selection For Fourth Test vs India

Former England skipper Nasser Hussain has criticised the team selection for the fourth Test. The visitors made two changes heading into the fourth Test bringing in Daniel Lawrence and spinner Dom Bess replacing the England pacers Jofra Archer and Stuart Broad. The Joe Root-led side was bundled out for 205 in the first innings on Day 1 with India spinners Axar Patel, R Ashwin, and Washington Sundar picking up eight wickets between themselves.

England have only one specialist pacer in the team James Anderson, with allrounder Ben Stokes being the only other fast bowler in the playing XI. Nasser Hussain said that England have picked up the team suited for the third Test.

It was almost as if England had picked a side for the last Test. They left out two of their seamers because they thought the ball would spin from day one again but as it turned out it did a bit for Mohammed Siraj and Ishant Sharma on the first morning” Hussain told Daily Mail.

Nasser Hussain further said that England should consider themselves lucky to have won the toss. He added that losing the loss would have made the job difficult with the bowling attack they selected for the third Test.

“England can count themselves very lucky they did win that toss because bowling would have been hard work for them with the attack they chose” Hussain said.

Meanwhile, the England bowlers have made run-scoring difficult for the Indian batsmen. They have taken four wickets so far of the Indian innings with three of them in the first hour on day 2.

Jack Leah dismissed Cheteshwar Pujara for the fourth time in this series. Ben Stokes then took the big wicket of Virat Kohli for a duck and James Anderson dismissed Ajinkya Rahane just at the stroke of lunch.

Rohit Sharma is unbeaten on 32 at the other end and have looked the best of the Indian batsmen in the innings so far. They still trail England’s first innings score by 125 runs heading into the second session.
