In a touching gesture, Nepal’s captain Indu Barma gave stand-in captain Smriti Mandhana a special Buddha statue following their Women’s Asia Cup 2024 match against India. Tuesday, July 23 at Dambulla, Sri Lanka, was the occasion for the giving of the “token of love” to Smriti Mandhana following the game.
In their last Group A encounter, India easily overcame Nepal to guarantee their place in the Women’s Asia Cup semi-finals. The players from India and Nepal kept things light off the field, despite the intensity on it. After that, Smriti Mandhana and Indu Barma posed for a picture, with the former showing off the unique present from the Nepal cricket squad.

India won all three of its games to finish the Women’s Asia Cup group stage in a commanding manner. India defeated Nepal and the United Arab Emirates after dominating Pakistan in the first game of the competition.
Harmanpreet Kaur was rested for the team’s encounter against Nepal, while Smriti Mandhana took charge. Since Smriti, the acting captain, had chosen not to begin the batting, India was eager to try out new batting orders.
Dayalan Hemalatha and Shafali Verma made a big contribution to India’s Asia Cup triumph over Nepal, which ended in 178 for 3. Hemalatha scored 47 off 42 balls, while Verma blasted 81 off 48 balls with 12 boundaries and a six.
For India, Jemimah Rodrigues scored 28 off of 15 balls. In their 20 overs, Nepal could only muster 96 for 9, with just four batsmen scoring in the tens. With another three-wicket haul, Deepti Sharma maintained her excellent form. Radha Yadav and Arundhati Reddy both took two wickets.
