The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 is all set to resume from September 19 in the United Arab Emirates. Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah will host the tournaments as the final will be played on October 15.

Amidst the packed International scheduled, there is uncertainty over the participation of foreign players in the league. However, the New Zealand players will be available for the second phase of the marquee tournament.

The New Zealand Cricket team is expected to play against Pakistan in September-October which led to the speculations. But, New Zealand Cricket Board chief David White confirmed that the Kiwi players will play the Indian Premier League.

“New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson, Trent Boult, James Neesham, and Lockie Ferguson will feature in the second phase of the IPL 2021 in the UAE” instead of the Pakistan series.” David White was quoted by GeoTV as reported by Insidesport.

The Board of Control For Cricket in India is working closely to ensure the availability of foreign cricketers for the second phase of IPL 2021. They are in talks with the England and Wales Cricket Association and Cricket Australia to come to a consensus. The franchises are sweating over these issues and the confirmation of the participation of New Zealand players has provided some relief.

“We are much relieved now. BCCI is in talks with English and Australian boards to come to a consensus regarding this. Given April and May are earmarked for the IPL, they are right to raise their own objections, but we are now confirmed to witness New Zealand players in action,” a franchise official told Cricket.com.
