Injured all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has found himself in legal trouble, with his former player management agency filing a petition against him over unpaid dues exceeding ₹5 crore. The India and SunRisers Hyderabad cricketer is being sued by Square The One Private Limited, which claims a breach of the management agreement and non-payment.
According to sources cited by India Today, the fallout between Reddy and the agency occurred during the 2024–25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Following the dispute, Reddy reportedly signed with the manager of another Indian player who was also part of that tour.
Square The One has filed a petition under Section 11(6) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act. The matter is scheduled to be heard in the Delhi High Court on July 28. The petition requests the appointment of a neutral arbitrator to resolve disputes concerning the alleged breach of contract and the player’s failure to pay agreed dues.
Nitish Reddy’s Former Agency Handled Endorsements Since 2021: Sources
Sources familiar with the matter told India Today that Square The One had been managing Nitish Reddy since 2021, prior to his breakthrough in the IPL. During their four-year partnership, the agency reportedly secured several brand endorsements and commercial deals for the cricketer.
“Ninety percent of such disputes do not reach court and are resolved privately. But in this case, Nitish refused to pay any money and claimed he had secured the deals himself,” a source said on condition of anonymity.
Nitish Reddy’s fortunes have taken a downturn since his impressive Test debut in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The all-rounder endured a disappointing IPL 2025 campaign with SunRisers Hyderabad. Despite carrying an injury during the tournament, he ramped up his bowling workload in preparation for the Test series against England.
Unfortunately, after featuring in the Birmingham and Lord’s Tests, he sustained a significant knee injury, which sidelined him for the remainder of the season.
