However, Samson has played down this comparison saying that no one can play like the former Indian skipper. Time and again, every budding wicket-keepers in India have drawn comparisons with the Dhoni. Sanju also urged one and all not to compare Dhoni with anyone as he is one in a generation cricketer.

“It is not at all easy to play like MS Dhoni, and I think one should not try to play like him, that’s what I will suggest to anyone. We should leave him aside, he is one of the best cricketers to have played the game,” Samson said to India Today.

The cricketer from Kerala further said that he does not even think of playing like the former Indian skipper. Samson made his debut for India in 2015, but then lost out his place to Dhoni till he was playing international cricket and then to Rishabh Pant.

He has been a consistent performer in the IPL for a long period of time, however, the selectors have been avoiding him despite his numbers.

I never think about me playing like MS Dhoni and what I would really love to be is more like myself and just understand what is Sanju Samson and just be myself whenever I play a game” Samson further added.
